I finished a 40-day fast
For 40 days, I eliminated alcohol, THC, and frivolous spending… a much-needed experience that has changed me forever, I hope.
If you didn’t know, I’m a cocktail during lunch, edible at night, and turn up over the weekend girlie. Not every day, but definitely a few times a week. During one of my most recent stressful periods, I would look forward to coming home at night just so I could microdose an edible to finally find some joy in my day.
I’ve had my fair share of drunken nights and regretful “idk what happened” mornings. I’ve fought through the residual damage of intoxicated decisions, and thank God for keeping me alive and well throughout those misguided times.
Needless to say, this fast was a welcomed change. I honestly didn’t think much of it when I started — this was my second time participating in the SEEK fast hosted by Alfred Street Baptist Church. And even though this year’s effort was double the length of last year’s, it didn’t seem like a major sacrifice.
But as the days went on, I realized just how much alcohol, THC and unnecessary spending influenced my daily routine, energy levels, and overall mindset.
